At the age of 10, ten months after her transplant, Macy made her first of many club volleyball teams. Macy loved music, movies and volleyball. She adored the beach and hot summer days along with riding the waves in the Gulf. She loved to travel, experience exotic places and even got a chance to swim with dolphins on one of her many excursions.
In June of 2019 we departed for a Mediterranean cruise with Macy’s sisters, Sophia and Mia, her mom and dad, grandma Ann and nine aunts, uncles and cousins. Toward the end of our trip Macy did not feel well and visited the hospital immediately upon our return to the States. She was admitted to the hospital and we were told that Macy’s heart was failing. On July 5th, Macy was sedated and put on a ventilator to try and allow her heart to rest and fight to get stronger.
She fought to live her life to the fullest every day up until she passed away on the morning of July 12, 2019, seventeen days before her 21st birthday. She was surrounded by a roomful of family and friends.
Macy’s Way will work to achieve its mission in Macy's honor.
